Carried forward
Situation at a glance

On 28 September, the Indian National Congress sought the Chief Election Commissioner’s removal and cancellation of the Varanasi result, as “Congress seeks CEC's removal and cancellation of Varanasi election result” reported. On 29 September, Mallikarjun Kharge demanded Gyanesh Kumar’s immediate removal; “TVK stays cautious as allies seek India's chief election commissioner's ouster” also described differing positions among allies. On 2 October, Delhi Police imposed assembly restrictions across New Delhi district, while “Delhi closes 11 metro stations ahead of planned Jantar Mantar protest” reported station closures before a planned demonstration. On 6 October, “India's PIB rejects claim ECI removed Form 6 press release after Supreme Court remark” reported the PIB’s response to a press-release claim. On 13 October, the Aam Aadmi Party called for Kumar’s resignation and announced a Delhi march, while “Delhi Police detain CJP leaders again during SIR protests at Jantar Mantar” reported Cockroach Janta Party detentions. On 15 October, the Delhi High Court declined to block a CJP protest, and the Supreme Court of India sought a response in a separate challenge to the Jantar Mantar protest ban. Those proceedings followed Delhi Police’s 14 October removal of Jantar Mantar as a designated protest site pursuant to a Supreme Court order. On 16 October, “Delhi closes Central Park and imposes Section 163 ahead of CJP Tiranga March” reported restrictions ahead of the march; later, “CJP leaders challenge two-day custody extension” reported a custody challenge.

Assessment

These actions establish political demands over voter-roll revision and Gyanesh Kumar’s position, protest activity and restrictions, and judicial scrutiny of both Form 6 and protest access. They do not establish that voter-roll manipulation occurred: the Supreme Court’s Form 6 request was a procedural step, not a finding on the allegations. The PIB response concerned a separate claim about removal of a press release, not the Court’s request for records. The Delhi High Court’s decision concerning a CJP protest and the Supreme Court’s response request in a separate Jantar Mantar challenge do not resolve protest access in one direction. The CJP leaders withdrew their challenge to the custody extension, and a court ordered their release; coverage reported their release on 22 October. Their custody proceedings and the transfer of the trespass case are distinct legal developments; they do not establish that the separate Goa detainees or other protest groups were part of the same case or incident.

Stories, Events, and cast

Stories are reporting clusters. Events are coded occurrences within that reporting. The cast contains 758 canonical people and organizations linked to the retained evidence.

Typed connections

Story-to-Event edges identify supporting reporting. Entity-to-Event edges identify recorded actor or target participation. Mentions and analytical roles stay visibly distinct from recorded participation.

Core, precursor, and continuation labels organize the reading. They do not by themselves establish causation. Collapsed graph groups and paginated evidence change presentation only; counts use the complete retained edition.
