Situation at a glance

On September 28, the Cockroach Janta Party announced a jail-bharo protest planned for October 2 after authorities denied rally permission, as “CJP announces jail-bharo protest after authorities deny rally permission” reported. On October 8, Rajasthan Police allegedly dragged and detained CJP leader Deepak Baliyan; the party’s accusation appeared in “CJP accuses Rajasthan police of dragging detained party leader with broken leg.” On October 15, the Supreme Court of India issued notice to Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders over the October 12 march, as “India Supreme Court issues notices to Gandhi, Yadav over electoral-roll protest march” reported. On October 16, opposition parties and young protesters demanded the election chief’s resignation, while Aam Aadmi Party leaders marched toward Rashtrapati Bhavan with a giant Tricolour. On October 17, Delhi Police detained protesters at Jantar Mantar, and Neha Bora criticized the overnight detentions. On October 19, the Muslim Coordination Committee demanded Gyanesh Kumar resign, Indian Youth Congress demonstrators demanded the election chief’s resignation, and Shashi Tharoor defended opposition support for peaceful protest. A Delhi court ordered Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka released on October 21; on October 23 protesters marched toward the Election Commission headquarters to demand the election chief’s resignation, and Delhi Police detained protesters.

Assessment

These dated events establish recurring protest activity, police intervention, political demands and court proceedings, including mobilization around the election chief and electoral-roll issues. They do not establish that every protest or detention had the same organizers, participants or cause. The October 8 account is an allegation about Rajasthan Police; Kiren Rijiju’s allegation of a plot to trigger violence and Shashi Tharoor’s defense of peaceful protest are competing political positions, not independent resolution of that allegation. The Supreme Court notice was a procedural step, not a ruling on the merits of the protest dispute. The October 21 release of Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka is distinct from reports about Abhijeet Dipke and other CJP-linked detention episodes. The as-of account now extends through the October 23 march; its October 22 reports also include accusations by Gaurav Bhatia and the Government of India, which remain attributed claims.

Stories, Events, and cast

Stories are reporting clusters. Events are coded occurrences within that reporting. The cast contains 322 canonical people and organizations linked to the retained evidence.

Typed connections

Story-to-Event edges identify supporting reporting. Entity-to-Event edges identify recorded actor or target participation. Mentions and analytical roles stay visibly distinct from recorded participation.

Core, precursor, and continuation labels organize the reading. They do not by themselves establish causation. Collapsed graph groups and paginated evidence change presentation only; counts use the complete retained edition.
