Bosnia and Herzegovina voted on 4 October; on election day the Central Election Commission reported Salkić and Begić leading the Republika Srpska race, while Bijeljina officials reported technology problems at 184 polling stations in “Bosnia and Herzegovina opens polling stations for 2026 general elections.” On 5 October Denis Bećirović and other candidates declared victory, and Milorad Dodik separately declared victory in “Dodik declares victory as nationalist parties dominate Bosnia election”; these were declarations, not certified final results. The Central Election Commission later updated Minić and Blanuša’s totals, while the European Union urged Bosnia’s leaders to accelerate reforms and form a government. Government bargaining developed on several tracks: on 9 October SDA began talks with DF, SBiH and HDZ BiH in Zenica-Doboj Canton; Bakir Izetbegović and Dragan Čović met on 10 October; and Milorad Dodik and Čović met in Banja Luka on 12 October, where Dodik pledged to continue their political partnership.
Footnotes[62][44][27][24][63][41][22][64][51][40][46][19]The election-day standings, later vote updates and victory declarations describe different stages and claims; they do not establish certified final results. National bargaining included meetings and talks, including SDA’s 19 October talks with parties opposed to the Trojka and the Democratic Front’s 20 October rejection of an alliance with SDP. These reports show competing positions, not a confirmed national coalition. In Sarajevo Canton, Bandić’s majority claim, Bečarević’s report of an accord and Handžić’s account of a possible procedural obstacle are distinct reports and do not establish that a government formed. The account also includes SDA talks to form a government in Una-Sana Canton on 22 October and a separate report that SDA sought a government without Trojka while Dodik rejected DF.
