Women protest against TASMAC liquor outlet near Kilvelur

On 2026-05-13, women and residents of Vadakkuveli near Keezhvelur in Nagapattinam district staged a protest outside TASMAC shop number 643. They demanded the outlet be closed or removed, alleging it caused inconvenience to women, students, and the public. A local tahsildar held talks with the demonstrators and reportedly promised relocation within 30 days, but the protesters rejected the assurance.
