MCWD water output drops in Jaclupan amid El Niño threat

On 2026-05-07, water output at MCWD’s Jaclupan facility in Talisay City, Cebu dropped from 25,000 cubic meters per day to 21,000 cubic meters per day as reduced rainfall and looming El Niño began affecting supply sources in southern Metro Cebu. The reduced output was reported to be causing weaker water flow in parts of Barangays Pardo and Bulacao, while northern Cebu remained stable for now. Leak detection teams were also assessing whether low-pressure complaints in other areas were linked to pipeline leaks.
