UAE accelerates pipeline construction to bypass Strait of Hormuz

On 2026-05-15, the UAE announced it would accelerate construction of a new oil pipeline to expand export capacity through Fujairah and further bypass the Strait of Hormuz. Abu Dhabi officials said Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed directed ADNOC to fast-track the West-East Pipeline project, which is under construction and expected to begin operating in 2027.
