Groundbreaking begins Rocheport to Columbia I-70 construction

On 2026-05-07, the Missouri Department of Transportation held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction on the Rocheport-to-Columbia segment of the Improve I-70 Project. The project will add a third lane in each direction across nearly 14 miles of Interstate 70, from the Missouri River Bridge at Rocheport to near Highway 63 in Columbia. Officials said the work is part of a statewide expansion program and is budgeted at about $441 million.
