Governor Otti approves feasibility study for proposed Abia seaport

On 2026-05-05, Abia State Governor Alex Otti approved the commencement of a feasibility study for the proposed Azumini–Obeaku seaport and inland waterways corridor project. The approval was given during a meeting with China Harbour Engineering Company Limited at Government House in Umuahia, and the governor asked that the study be completed as quickly as possible.
