India imposes windfall tax on petrol exports; cuts diesel and aviation fuel duties

On 2026-05-15, India’s Finance Ministry imposed a windfall gains tax of Rs 3 per litre on petrol exports and reduced export levies on diesel and aviation turbine fuel. The notification said the new rates take effect from May 16, while domestic fuel duty rates were unchanged.
