On 2026-05-05, armed men on Venezuela鈥檚 shore fired on a Guyana Defence Force patrol boat in the Cuyuni River near Black Water, Region Seven. The patrol returned fire and escorted civilian boats out of the area. One soldier sustained two gunshot wounds to his right leg and was later medevacked for treatment.
