Kenya and Tanzania sign cooperation deals and address trade barriers in talks

On 2026-05-06, Kenya and Tanzania signed eight Memoranda of Understanding during President William Ruto's state visit to State House in Dar es Salaam. The agreements covered energy, legal cooperation, agriculture, railway development, public service capacity building, maritime cooperation, seafarer certification standards, and harmonization of standards. The leaders also said they would work to remove remaining non-tariff barriers to trade by June 30, 2026.
