Myanmar grants amnesty to over 1,500 prisoners on Buddha Day

On 2026-04-30, Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing granted amnesty to 1,519 prisoners to commemorate Buddha Day, according to state-owned Myanmar Radio and Television. The order covered 1,508 Myanmar prisoners and 11 foreign prisoners; the foreign prisoners were pardoned and expelled from the country.
