Indigenous protesters detain Colombia Interior Ministry officials in Bogota

On 2026-04-30, Indigenous Emberá Katío protesters in Bogotá blocked exits and detained officials and workers at the Interior Ministry buildings in the city center. The authorities deployed the police Undmo unit, and the confrontation reportedly led to disturbances near the government building. The ministry said more than 1,200 people inside the buildings were affected and that protesters had at times blocked the ministry and aggressed public servants.
