Oklahoma Senate fails to override veto to save OETA public broadcaster

On 2026-05-15, the Oklahoma Senate failed to muster the votes needed to override Gov. Kevin Stitt’s veto of Senate Bill 1461, which would have extended state funding for OETA. The failed override leaves the public broadcaster on track to begin closing July 1, after which it will have a year to wind down operations.
