Myanmar grants amnesty to over 1,500 prisoners on Buddha Day

On 2026-04-30, Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing granted amnesty to 1,519 prisoners on Buddha Day, including 1,508 Myanmar prisoners and 11 foreign prisoners. The orders also reduced one-sixth of the sentences of prisoners jailed across the country, and the foreign prisoners were pardoned and expelled from Myanmar.
