Indonesia’s Prabowo announces export controls on coal and palm oil

On 2026-05-20, Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto announced a regulation requiring future sales of natural resources, starting with crude palm oil, coal and ferrous alloys, to go through state-owned enterprises appointed by the government. He said the measure was intended to strengthen export supervision, boost tax revenues, and curb under-invoicing, transfer pricing and capital flight.
