India bans new clearances for production of refrigerant gases after 2027

On 2026-04-08, the Government of India directed state and central authorities to stop granting environmental clearances for new or additional hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) production beyond December 31, 2027. The measure is intended to support India鈥檚 phasedown schedule for HFCs from January 1, 2028, under its international climate commitments.
