South Korea and US hold talks to revise management of fortified North Korea border

On 2026-05-21, South Korea and the United States held defense talks in Washington on possible changes to how parts of the fortified North Korea border are managed. South Korea’s defense ministry said the issue was discussed in a bilateral integrated defence consultative body and that there had been progress, while denying reports of joint or divided control of the DMZ.
