Senate chaos ends: Philippines Duterte impeachment court gets a date

On 2026-05-14, Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano formally acknowledged receipt of the House-passed articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte and said the Senate would convene as an impeachment court on May 18. The letter to House Speaker Faustino Dy III directed the Senate secretariat to place the articles on the calendar and proceed with the case in Manila.
