Government signs deal with 12 IPPs for 918 MW power

On 2026-05-21, Bangladesh’s government signed contracts with 12 independent power producers to generate 918 MW of electricity, according to BSS. Officials said the plants, including solar projects in Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, Ishwardi, and other districts, are expected to be commissioned within two years and connected to the national grid.
