Ireland’s Taoiseach calls to suspend EU-Israel trade deal over flotilla activists

On 2026-05-21, Ireland's Prime Minister Micheál Martin formally asked European Council President António Costa to put the treatment of EU citizens aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla on the agenda of the upcoming EU summit. He also urged discussion of suspending the EU's Association Agreement with Israel over the reported detention and treatment of the activists.
