Delhi ends annual licence renewals in legal metrology

On 2026-05-06, the Delhi Government introduced lifetime validity for licences issued to manufacturers, dealers and repairers in the weights and measures sector. The reform amended the Delhi Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2011 and removed the annual renewal requirement for businesses in Delhi. It was presented as part of the government’s Deregulation Exercise 2.0 to reduce compliance burden.
