Canvas attack targets students at Canberra schools

On 2026-05-08, the Canvas learning platform was taken down by its parent company Instructure after a cyber security attack, disrupting students at the University of Canberra and several Canberra Catholic schools. The outage left online classes, materials, and assignment submission portals unavailable and prompted the university to disconnect its IT systems from Canvas.
