Android 17 will verify whether your OS is legitimate

On 2026-05-13, Google announced that Android OS verification will be added in Android 17, initially on Pixel phones. The feature is intended to let users confirm they are running an official Google-blessed Android build, and Google also said it will offer a public append-only ledger for verifying the legitimacy of its Android apps and APIs.
