Nate Cavanaugh

Nate (Nathan) Cavanaugh is an American tech entrepreneur who was a member of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the second administration of Donald Trump. In 2025, Cavanaugh led the US Institute for Peace and co-led the National Endowment for the Humanities with Justin Fox. In his role as a DOGE staffer, he was responsible for terminating nearly all of the grants at the National Endowment for the Humanities and is the subject of a lawsuit filed in 2026.
