Eduardo da Costa Paes is a Brazilian politician who served as mayor of Rio de Janeiro from 2009 to 2017, and again from 2021 to 2026. On 12 August, at the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony, he took the Olympic Flag, via Jacques Rogge, from London Mayor Boris Johnson.
