Multiple agencies battle Poitrey Canyon Fire in southeastern Colorado, tops 2,000 acres

On 2026-04-27, the Poitrey Canyon Fire in southeastern Colorado was mapped at 2,113 acres and remained 0% contained, according to the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control. Firefighters reported high winds had increased fire behavior the previous day, and overnight rain was expected to help containment efforts. Governor Jared Polis also verbally declared a disaster emergency in response to the fire.
