Red Shoes Sheehan case fails to block rules on judicial candidates' statements

On 2026-04-04, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia rejected Martin P. Sheehan's attempt to block state judicial-candidate speech rules. The ruling in Charleston left in place the West Virginia rules limiting what judicial candidates may say during elections.
