India cuts duty on petro raw materials to give Surat industries relief

On 2026-04-04, the Government of India reduced the basic customs duty on more than 40 petrochemical raw materials to zero for three months. The cut, from 7.5% to nil, was aimed at easing input costs for Surat's textile and plastics industries, including PTA and MEG used in man-made fibre production.
