DR Congo plans strategic reserve of key minerals

On 2026-04-15, the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo said it would establish a strategic reserve of cobalt, coltan and germanium. The move follows the country's earlier cobalt export restrictions and quota system, which had shaken global markets and driven prices higher. The policy is intended to give Kinshasa greater control over exports of critical minerals.
