South Africa agrees climate loan and critical minerals cooperation with Germany in visit

On 2026-04-13, Germany agreed to provide South Africa a new 200 million euro concessional climate loan after talks in Berlin between German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul and South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola. The two governments also said they would deepen cooperation on critical minerals, green hydrogen, and battery value chain projects.
