Retired Nigerian police block villa gate, demand exit from contributory pension scheme

On 2026-04-19, retired police officers and their families staged a protest in Abuja over the continued inclusion of the Nigeria Police Force in the contributory pension scheme. They blocked one of the gates leading to the Presidential Villa to demand that President Bola Tinubu assent to the Police Exit Bill. No violence or fatalities were reported.
