Former President Lacalle Pou urges Paraguay sea outlet in Uruguay

On 2026-04-28, former Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou publicly endorsed advancing a port project in Uruguay to give Paraguay maritime access. He made the remarks at an event in Santa Rita, Alto Paraná, and said private investors are already exploring possible sites for the project. Paraguayan President Santiago Peña also backed the idea at the same event.
