Malawi government forms task force to curb illegal mining and smuggling

On 2026-04-04, the Government of Malawi activated a Joint Task Force on Illegal Mining and Smuggling to combat illegal mining and cross-border mineral smuggling nationwide. The multi-agency unit was tasked to use lawful measures against the practice across Malawi.
