Morningside families protest proposed school closure plan

On 2026-04-09, families, educators, alumni, and neighborhood residents held a packed public hearing at Reid Middle School in Pittsfield to oppose a proposal to close Morningside Community School. Speakers urged the Pittsfield School Committee to reconsider the plan to redistribute about 300 students to other elementary schools. No violence was reported.
