Armenian protesters seek end to Archbishop house arrest

On 2026-04-19, protesters launched a signature campaign in Gyumri calling for the release of Shirak Diocese leader Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan, who was under house arrest. The initiative began in the courtyard of the Holy Seven Wounds Church in Vardanants Square and drew local residents, political figures, and members of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation. No violence was reported.
