Kogi youths protest alleged political attack on INEC chair Amupitan

On 2026-04-13, hundreds of youths and civil society members staged a protest in Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi State. They marched through major streets to oppose what they described as a politically motivated attempt to undermine INEC chairman-nominee Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan and to defend the electoral commission's independence. No violence or arrests were reported.
