Protesters storm Nigeria’s NASS over Tantita decentralisation calls

On 2026-04-01, a coalition of Niger Delta stakeholders staged a protest at the National Assembly in Abuja against proposals to decentralise the Tantita pipeline surveillance contract. The protesters urged the Federal Government and NNPC to keep the current arrangement and rejected claims the contract should be altered for political reasons. No violence or fatalities were reported.
