Payward to acquire CFTC-regulated crypto derivatives platform Bitnomial

On 2026-04-17, Payward, the parent company of Kraken, announced a definitive agreement to acquire Bitnomial, a US-licensed cryptocurrency and derivatives exchange. Payward said Bitnomial's CFTC licenses were the main driver for the transaction, and it plans to use Bitnomial's infrastructure to expand US spot margin, perpetual futures, and options trading.
