On 2026-04-15, Kim Jong Un oversaw an artillery firing contest by Korean People's Army artillery subunits in North Korea’s western area, according to KCNA and Rodong Sinmun. The event was held on the Day of the Sun, Kim Il Sung’s birth anniversary, and was presented as training to strengthen combat capability. No casualties were reported.
