China’s mainland reiterates readiness for peace across the Taiwan Strait

On 2026-04-08, the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office in Beijing reiterated readiness to strive for peace across the Taiwan Strait. Spokesperson Zhu Fenglian said the mainland was willing to work with political parties, groups and individuals in Taiwan, including the KMT, to promote peaceful cross-Strait development on the basis of the 1992 Consensus.
