Missing mayor in Indian Creek, Belize sparks riot

On 2026-04-13, a mob formed in Indian Creek Village, Toledo, after the village alcalde was reported missing and marched to Chairman Domingo Choc’s home. The crowd stoned the building, damaged his shop and bar, and threats were also made against the residence of the second alcalde and the Ya'axché field station. No fatalities were reported.
