Fire danger expands across Florida Peninsula amid dry, gusty weather

On 2026-04-20, dry, gusty conditions behind a cold front expanded Red Flag Warnings across much of the Florida Peninsula, including North and Central Florida and parts of Southwest Florida. The National Weather Service warned that very dry vegetation, low humidity, and strong winds through Tuesday could cause erratic fire behavior and rapid wildfire spread.
