Pedro Sánchez meets left-leaning world leaders to defend democracy

On 2026-04-18, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez met with progressive world leaders at the IV Summit in Defense of Democracy in Barcelona. He urged the participants to move "from words to action" to defend democracy, strengthen multilateralism, and address digital governance and inequality. The gathering brought together leaders from more than 15 countries, including Uruguay, South Africa, Ireland, Cabo Verde, Albania, and Lithuania.
