Austria plans Weapons Law amendment “Part Two” rollout

On 2026-04-16, Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner announced in Vienna that the second part of Austria's weapons law amendment will take effect on April 28. He said the goal of the amendment is to increase security, and described stricter firearm examinations, a higher minimum purchase age, and expanded police control powers near schools and kindergartens.
