Sri Lanka minister blames 2010 administrations for coal procurement lapses

On 2026-04-10, Sri Lanka Health and Mass Media Minister Nalinda Jayatissa addressed Parliament during the no-confidence debate on Energy Minister Kumar Jayakody. He defended the government’s coal procurement handling and said administrations since 2010 had failed to follow proper procedures and quality testing. He also said the government was considering an independent committee to examine coal shipments imported since 2010.
