Texas Comptroller releases overview of Education Freedom Account applications

On 2026-04-03, Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced in Austin that more than 274,000 students applied for Texas Education Freedom Accounts during the program’s first year. The Comptroller’s office also released a detailed breakdown of the application pool and said verification and funding steps would follow.
