Lufthansa cuts 20,000 flights over Iran war jet fuel shortage

On 2026-04-23, Lufthansa Group said it would cut 20,000 short-haul flights through October and cancel less profitable routes as the Iran war drove up oil prices and deepened jet fuel shortages. The airline said it would focus on flights to and from its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich and estimated the move could save about 40,000 tonnes of jet fuel.
