Canada federal government to take over vaccine injury compensation to clear backlog

On 2026-04-01, the Public Health Agency of Canada took over administration of Canada’s vaccine injury compensation program from a third-party contractor. The agency said it would address an existing backlog of applications and improve claims consistency and transparency. Quebec’s separate provincial program was said to continue unchanged.
