Thane tehsildar recommends FIR over fake OBC certificate in Mumbra corporator case

On 2026-04-18, the Thane tehsildar's office recommended registration of an FIR against Yunus Sheikh, father of AIMIM corporator Sahar Sheikh, over allegations that the family used a fake OBC caste certificate. The inquiry said the certificate was prima facie fake and recommended cancellation of the associated certificates and action for cheating and fraud in Thane, Maharashtra.
